VPN Software IT Services offers this as an alternative way to access restricted resources, but they do not recommend it for most users due to its complexity.
Requirements You need a user ID and password (same login as for your UCM e-mail account or Virtual Campus) Use the VPN connection to access licensed library resources, such as article databases, ebooks and electronic journals, as if you were using a campus computer. Current students, faculty, and staff are able to utilize the VPN service to allow remote access to resources that are limited to the UC Merced campus network such as library journals, instructional software, and administrative systems. The new VPN service adds an extra layer of protection to your login by utilizing the same Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) that is used by the UC Merced Single Sign-On (SSO).
